A young boy opens his eyes to find himself in a world consisting of entirely silver crystals.

Boy: "What in the--?! WHERE IN BLAZES AM I?"

The boy leaps up.

Boy: "Hmm... who are those?"

The boy wondered who the three girls were who stared at him. The first girl was blonde, and looked to be his age. The second girl was the same height as him, and wore unusual clothing. Her hair was brown. The third girl was shorter than any of them.

Blonde Girl: "About time you woke up."
Brunette Girl: "Yep. What did you do? Why are we here?"
Boy: "How on Earth should I know?"
Little Girl: "... He's Surfacian..."
Boy: "Huh? Sur-what?"
Blonde Girl: "Surfacian."
Boy: "Surfa-what?"

The brunette girl walked closer... and kicked the boy in the stomach with her knee.

Brunette Girl: "Surfacian. S-U-R-F-A-C-I-A-N."
Boy: "OW!"
Voice: "SILENCE!"

The voice echoed...

Voice: "YOU FOUR ARE HERE TO PROVE YOURSELVES WORTHY OF MY TIME. IF YOU CAN DEFEAT THE MONSTERS INSIDE YOUR DREAM REALMS WITHIN THE ALLOTTED TIME, I SHALL GIVE YOU POWER BEYOND THAT WHICH YOU CURRENTLY POSSESS, FOOLISH MORTAL PUPPIES--"
Boy: "OBJECTION! None of us are canines, and if they were, I'd be running for my life already."

The girls all facepalmed. A bolt of lightning appeared and struck the boy, but somehow, it was negated by a barrier!

Boy: "This is definitely a dream, amun."
Brunette Girl: "He speaks Draconian!"
Blonde Girl: "What?"
Little Girl: "... A Surfacian... knowing Draconian...?"
Voice: "... THIS IS INTERESTING. A BARRIER AROUND YOU, MORTAL SURFACIAN? AND YOU SPEAK DRACONIAN?"
Boy: "... I thought up that language... yet more people know about it than I do...?"
Voice: "FOOLISH MORTALS! YOU SHALL ALL SUFFOCATE--"
Boy: "OBJECTION! Can you call someone who memorized seventy-five raised to the power of six a fool?"
Voice: "WHAT?"
Boy: "It's 177 978 515 625. The answer to seventy-five raised to the power of six."

Everyone stared at the boy again, this time in shock.

Brunette Girl: "... Say wha?"
Blonde Girl: "... I... do not believe!"
Little Girl: "...?"
Voice: "... IT WOULD APPEAR THAT YOU, MORTAL SURFACIAN, ARE FAR MORE DIFFERENT AND UNIQUE THAN I HAD THOUGHT. NONETHELESS, THOSE THREE LADIES WILL SUFFOCATE WHILE YOU--"
Boy: "OBJECTION! Don't even think about it."
Little Girl: "Who is he?"
Boy: "My name is Shane, and even though I don't know them, they are my friends!"
Brunette Girl: "... That's one weird guy, that's for sure... Are his parents lawyers?"
Shane: "Nope. Played too much Ace Attorney games, I believe. What's today's date?"
Blonde Girl: "22 August 2013. Why?"
Shane: "... Weird. Whatever. Who are you?"
Blonde Girl: "Emily Black."
Shane: "(That name...! Sounds familiar... as though it's from a fanfic of mine...)"
Brunette Girl: "I'm Taylor Smith♥ and I'm 17~"
Shane: "(How does she even say that? Wait... Taylor Smith?! So I finally meet her in person... the other administrator of my forums...)"
Little Girl: "I'm uh... Roxanne Rockout..."
Shane: "(... Interesting last name.)"
Taylor: "So finally we meet, Neumann~"
Shane: "Indeed... (How does one respond...?)"
Voice: "ARE YOU DONE TALKING, MORTALS?"
Shane: "... The secret to immortality is writing something, apparently."
Emily: "Where do you get that?"
Shane: "... A homework planner? OW!"

Roxanne had hit Shane over the head with her sandal.

Roxanne: "Liar!"
Shane: "... So, who art thee who annoys me? (... I don't speak archaic English, sorry...)"
Voice: "YOU DARE QUESTION ME AND SPEAK IN SUCH A HORRIBLE TONGUE? PREPARE TO BE PULVERIZED INTO DUST!"

A trap door opens under the group and they fall in!

Shane: "... it hurts..."
Taylor: "Now what?"

Roxanne starts crying.

Roxanne: "Whaaaa!"
Emily: "It's okay... we'll get out, somehow..."
Voice: "CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON CATEGORY, MORTALS."

In the crystal walls, text was carved. It read:

Shane: "Oh no, it's not. Much better than fighting with two katanas, or two swords. 'Sides, I'm mostly a sword-wielding fighter."
Emily: "I'll go with the rod. And the whip. Then I can lash at all those foolishly foolish fools."
Shane: "(Why do I get the feeling she's talking about me...?)"
Roxanne: "... I... I'd rather play music... but... I like claws too... what should I pick?"
Taylor: "Why not both music and claws? You like cats, don't you?"
Roxanne: "Yes! Yes! Okay! Both music and claws then!"
Taylor: "Well, I'll go with the twin dagger and chakram..."
Voice: "EXCELLENT, MORTALS! NOW... PREPARE TO DIE!"
Taylor: "What the--!?"
Roxanne: "Whaaaaa!"
Emily: "Are you insane?!"
Shane: "...! (What's this vibe I'm getting...?)"

Shane leaps backwards, as trapdoors open under everyone else! Where Shane had stood a second ago, a trapdoor was open, too!

Shane: "Darn...! (I sensed the trap? B-but how?)"
Voice: "... FOOLISH MORTAL. YOU HAVE EVADED MY TRAP. NOW THIS ROOM SHALL BECOME VENOMOUS, AND YOU SHALL BE ANNIHILATED."

The trapdoor closes... but then Shane disappears in a puff of smoke, replaced with a log!

Voice: "... A MERE LOG? WHAT IS THIS SORCERY? HE FELL THROUGH THE TRAPDOOR AFTER ALL? WHAT IS THIS MORTAL?"

Taylor: "Ow... my head..."
Roxanne: "Whaaaa! It hurts! Whaaaaa!"
Emily: "... Where's that kid? I feel like killing him!"

Shane lands swiftly behind Taylor, but the group hears something break. Shane falls flat on his face.

Shane: "OWWWW!"
Emily: "... Something's broken now."
Taylor: "Poor guy..."
Shane: "Teenager... ow..."

Shane tries to get up, but barely manages to. He falls over again when he tries to stand.

Taylor: "Oh no. Looks like he broke his leg!"
Emily: "Excellent."
Roxanne: "It hurts..."
Taylor: "Not excellent! We need to do something to survive! We can't give in now! And he's... he's important, anyway. He's an administrator, and of three forums! Don't you know?"
Emily: "Hmph. Like I care."
Taylor: "Besides, I believe we ought to defend him..."
Shane: "You three are pretty lucky... (Can't say that about myself, of course.)"
Taylor: "And I see we've a welcoming committee on our hands..."

A giant fox appeared.

Taylor: "... We've got no weapons, however, so we're gonna have to fight this thing unarmed."
Shane: "What was the point of the weapon-choosing thing then?"
Emily: "To mess with us, obviously."
Roxanne: "WHAAAAAA!"

Suddenly, a fifth person appears!

? ? ? ?: "I am Yoshiro Sugimoto. I believe this ought to help you ought for now."

He takes a scroll and begins to read it out loud. The words sound strange...
A glow surrounds Shane, and his broken leg is healed!

Yoshiro: "That ought to do it."
Shane: "Th-thanks... (Who is this guy?)"
Yoshiro: "In addition, behind you should be a treasure chest with your chosen weapons..."

The three girls and Shane head to the chest. Shane opens it...

Shane got the Bronze Shortsword!
Shane got the Bronze Katana!
Emily got the Leather Whip!
Emily got the Wooden Rod!
Taylor got 2 Bronze Daggers!

Shane: "(Figures of speech and I are actually mortal enemies...)"
Yoshiro: "Are you ready to begin battling this monster?"

Shane: "... I guess so."
Taylor: "Count me in!"
Roxanne: "It's so cute! I don't want to hurt it..."
Yoshiro: "Do not worry. It is merely a summon. I can summon it again with my Fox Summoning Scroll..."
Emily: "In that case, let's go all out then..."
Shane: "I'll go last, I suppose..."
Taylor: "Why? Oh, I get it."
