(e.tv is a South African TV channel on which Pokémon is currently being aired on. The most recent episode aired in South Africa would be around the Pokémon Ping Pong tournament, or one or two episodes before that. I'm guessing here

It used to be on SABC 2. Twice.

The second time it aired two episodes in a row until the last one was a repeat of the first episode aired before it was "canceled".

If I remember correctly, those were the last Johto episodes, and then a few Hoenn episodes near the start. (But that could be my memory failing me; it used to be weekdays, think around 2:30?)
Either way, I missed a lot of those episodes due to school.

It is, at least the so-called "free" channels. (Which would be SABC 1, 2 and 3, and e.tv.)

It IS slow when it comes to TV, just like any other South African tech AFAIK, like video games, for example (the Wii was released in South Africa on 2008 {or was that 2009?}, for example, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl was only released a few years/months later, despite it being released the on 2008.).

South Africans have only 4 free channels: SABC1, SABC2, SABC3 and ETV.

They're sponsored by the TV license one has to buy in order to watch TV legally.

The other channels have to be purchased in the form of satellite TV (think Cable, but with satellite dishes instead of actual cabling).

And because of the TV licenses, those channels are, therefore, not free. That's how I see it. (Hence, why I said "so-called" in my previous post here.)
Also, those are the only channels I can watch. (Although I only watch stuff on SABC 2 and e.tv these days.)

Also, Dawn's Cyndaquil is the first Pokémon to evolve in a Side Story, so those who can't see the side story episodes (or have never seen it), will not know how or when Cyndaquil evolved, when Dawn returns for a short while in Unova.

Also, Brock making an appearance? That's cool, I wonder if Cilan will be battling him?

(Iris doesn't count, she wasn't a Gym Leader in the anime yet.)

(I haven't seen the Best Wishes episodes yet, since South Africa still is at the Galactic Battles series of Diamond and Pearl.)

The motto is "Gotta Catch 'Em All" not "Gotta use one overpowered midget rat who can be stronger than Arceus"

Am I not correct? I mean, he barely catches any Pokemon. He also got all the Kanto starters and Pikachu, but only evolved Charmander.

Team rocket is also quite stupid. Why steal Ash's Pikachu when there's millions more out there?

As of the most recent episode, Ash has a Pikachu, Charizard, Unfezant, Oshawott, Pignite, Snivy, Scraggy, Leavanny, Palpitoad, Boldore, Krookodile, Bulbasaur, Kingler, Muk, Tauros (30 of them), Snorlax, Heracross, Bayleef, Quilava, Totodile, Noctowl (shiny), Donphan, Swellow, Sceptile, Corphish, Torkoal, Glalie, Staraptor, Torterra, Infernape, Buizel and a Gible. So far I know, Squirtle and Primeape are in training, and Gliscor's status is unknown.
He has the most Pokémon of all the main anime characters, as far as I know.

Probably because Ash's Pikachu was able to cause massive destruction in the second episode? That's my guess.

You can also just give a light ball and Volt Tackle to some other Pikachu and make it be more powerful. Heck, Raichu are stronger.

That may be, although Ash's Pikachu has beaten two Raichu and won, and in both cases Pikachu never wanted to evolve. (Team Rocket even stole the Thunder Stone that Ash got in Kanto, when Ash was in Sinnoh.)
I don't know if the Light Ball exists in the anime, though. $:-\$

You know what? I think there's another possibility that previously didn't come to mind: revenge.
How many times has Team Rocket been blasted off by Ash's Pikachu?
Maybe that's why they try to capture Pikachu, just to get revenge.

Like the Hoenn series, Ash will have three companions traveling with him.
Hoenn had him travel with May, Max and Brock.
However, this time, in Kalos, Ash will travel with Serena, Bonnie and Clemont (a Gym Leader).

Serena loves fashion and apparently has met Ash before.
Clemont loves inventing and keeps his prized invention, the Aipom Arm, in his rucksack.
Bonnie, Clemont's sister, is trying to find a wife for her brother, and has a stern personality. She keeps Clemont's Pokémon since she isn't a Trainer yet.

Professor Sycamore will appear, obviously, and so will Team Rocket. (It appears that Giovanni may appear as well.)
And Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny both get redesigned.

Considering how dark Pokémon X and Pokémon Y's plots are, I wonder how the anime would handle it?
Or would it be handled the same?

(With Giovanni having a new design, though... it could be that Team Rocket is going to cause havoc yet again as in Unova.)

Also, apparently Ash and Pikachu haven't been reset like before.

Bulbapedia is one's friend. And so is Serebii.

I can, however, say that there is a Mega Blaziken in the first XY episode, that Ash captures a Froakie and Fletchling, and that James has an Inkay. Clemont has a Bunnelby already and Ash doesn't know that he's a Gym Leader... this is going to be interesting. :3

A few years back (one or two, or maybe three), the Sinnoh episodes were aired up until the end of the Galactic Battles series.
Then e.tv replaced it with Kanto episodes.

Interestingly, Pokémon Origins actually justified why the main character's named Red (named by his father for one day having the passion of the red hot fire - the reason why he chose Charmander in the first place).

Upon examining the site that hosts Pokémon Origins, it appears that it's an archive of past Animé episodes, as it has "TV's" representing episodes from all of the regions that are in English so far (not Kalos, since it has yet to be translated).

So far, Pokémon Origins is sweet.

The first episode has Brock teaching Red what it takes to be a trainer.

It also, interestingly, confirms the rumor that gym leaders choose Pokémon to battle their opponents that best matches their skill, as Brock was shown with a full team of 6 Pokémon, but only used his Geodude and Onix.

And said TM was Bide, in case you're wondering.
