SPLIT COMBINATION ATTACKS, AIMING AND USING THE ENVIRONMENT:
In a battle with multiple foes, it is possible to choose which enemy to attack.
Be sure to check the Initiative Gauge to see which foes are alive and which are dead.
Not selecting a target enemy, or selecting a dead foe, will result in a random foe being chosen.
In addition, combination attacks initiated work only for those who target the same enemy.
These split combination attacks are marked with the Seretouan numbers.
Like normal combos, they give +2 CP instead of the usual +1, and may inflict sudden death.
Also, combos may use the environment to the advantage of the party.
For example, in a jungle, shooting a tree could cause it to fall over and fall on top of a monster.

Polar stabs the Green Spider 1 in the eye with a pen! [1 hit: 4 damage]
Polar swings his/her sword upwards and sends the Green Spider 1 flying! [2 hits: 12 damage]
Kushagra throws his katana at the Green Spider 1 and hits! [3 hits: 20 damage]

Kushagra's katana falls on top of the Green Spider 1's head! [5 hits: 32 damage]
The katana automatically teleports to Kushagra...

Rina spins around, striking the Green Spider 2 four times with her daggers! [4 hits: 18 damage]
Richard shoots at a nearby tree, and it topples over on top of the Green Spider 2! [5 hits: 32 damage]
Green Spider 2 has been struck down.

Julio leaps at the Green Spider 3 and cuts two of its legs off! [2 hits: 11 damage]
Ashen picks Julio up and throws him at the Green Spider...
Julio swings both his swords upwards and cuts the Green Spider's head off! SUDDEN DEATH HAS BEEN INFLICTED!
Green Spider 3 has been struck down.

Two Lime Green Spiders and a Green Spider Queen appear!

Ashen: "What? More? Urgh..."
Green Spider Queen: "I am Marné. I am queen here. You are dead soon!"

Marné spits a poisoned needle at Rina, but Ashen steps in and takes the blow!

Ashen: "Oh no you don't... Argh!"
Marné: "Hmph. No matter. You will die in agony... as will your friends. Minions... kill that young lady there."
Ashen: "... I... won't let... you...!"

PROTECTING OTHER CHARACTERS:
This is a special technique that Fighters can use to protect their allies from damage, taking damage themselves.
However, they can't attack if they protect their allies.

ITEMS:
The ability to use items in combat has been unlocked.
Check the Tome of Inventory to see what you can use. You can, currently, use scrolls and potions.
In addition, when using an item, you can aim it at an ally or an enemy, depending on the effect of the item.
Using scrolls will make them disappear. If there is a scribe in the party, you can choose to sacrifice the scroll in order to add the scroll Glyph to the Tome of Intelligence.
Using potions will consume it, but leave behind an empty bottle. Alchemists can use these empty bottles to make potions, or they could be used to contain water.

Counting the turn that Hidden Power is used, the ability would be active for four turns.

In addition, Reaction Abilities are abilities that come from certain pieces of equipment. "Critical" Reaction Abilities only activate if a character reaches Critical HP.

Everyone turns to face the newcomer. This newcomer was facing the opposite way, glancing at the skies.

????: "Now you notice me... and I even healed you and cast level i Flare on that other arachnid."
Ashen: "W-wait, what? Th-that fog... you created it?"
????: "Of course I did. And not so much as a 'thanks'."

The newcomer spins around, wielding two absurdly sharp-looking katanas. The cloak the newcomer was wearing falls to the ground. Rina screams and falls to her knees, covering her eyes with her hands!

????: "Ah, so you are afraid of me, then? Do not worry... for you shall die soon! I have to warn you, though, she is too afraid to fight right now. So she shall be the last one to die in agony."
Ashen: "I'm not gonna let you hurt her! Remove that mask at once!"
????: "Ah, so she is afraid of masks then? Hah. I cannot remove it, because I would not want to kill myself by accident. In any case, please make this fun for me, will you? The last adventurers I had... murdered in cold blood... they barely lasted a minute against me. And they had slain twenty dragons before I even heard of that Skywing clan..."
Ashen: "What?! This girl is unreal...! Uh... thanks for healing us?"
????: "It is far too late for that now. Words are meaningless, Ashen, you should know that by now."
Ashen: "Y-you... know my... name?"
????: "Of course. After all... you are the only known survivor of that forest fire in 1542. Now... prepare to die in agony. My blades hunger for the blood of you six! Oh, and I should warn you: I am entirely immune to status effects, no matter what. Try to throw a potion of poison at me, and you will end up poisoning yourselves with the fumes from that potion. And I saw the goods that arachnid had, those elixirs will be entirely worthless. Sure, they bring you back from beyond the grave, I am sure you did not know that, but at what cost? You would have to waste your precious time fully healing the dead. Having only 15 health points when revived... I will just be able to strike them down again."
Ashen: "Health points? What are you talking about? We're not in a video game!"
????: "Not yet, you are not. After I am done here... I shall be asking the girl who hired me to make a video game of most of my life. An antagonist in the role of a protagonist... it should be an interesting twist, should it not? ... Whatever. Prepare to die."

NOTE:
Frightened characters deal less damage in combat, and can't attack the source of their fears. In this battle, for instance, Rina is entirely unable to attack her enemies.

I can't attack, can I? I take it she has a gas mask or an oxygen mask, which explains why Rina is unable to attack.
But since she wasn't frightened in the battle against the spiders... then I guess it must be a gas mask that the mysterious foe has.
I wonder what this foe is capable of...?

Waitwaitwait - Polar (and to a certain extent, myself) is afraid of spiders. We just barely killed 5 of them. Wut?

At any rate, this looks like it will be hard. I'm afraid of using Hidden Power, since everyone else is probably using Attack for a combo (no, Kush, you can't protect people), and I'd rather not be the Combo Breaker here, so...Attack!

I bet it's intentional. This enemy's HP is three question marks - either it's over 1000 or this battle is intended to be unbeatable, which is just for the purposes of a playable cutscene or something.

Ashen grabs the letter from Rina, and hurriedly opens it up.

Ashen: "... Dear Ashen Swaardt... I believe you are doing well, so I won't bother asking you how you are doing. I know you are worried about me. After all, I did just suddenly vanish. But don't worry about me. I'm okay. Really. Don't try to find me. I've been sending intel to the military forces of Ashlight, thanks to the assassin I've hired. She knows me, but since I'm under an assumed name, she doesn't know that it's me. I've told her that you were an enemy, so I take it she tried to kill you. I apologize for that, I take full responsibility. I'll try to return after the war is over, okay? Signed, Hikari Aranara, a.k.a. Elizabeth Elvainedge."
????: "Wait, so... Elizabeth Elvainedge is actually Hikari Aranara?!"

The immediate reaction was shocking. Julio nearly fell out of the tree, but managed to grab the branch and swing himself upwards back onto the branch. Rina nearly choked on the candy bar. Richard stepped back. Kushagra and Polar both looked surprised. Ashen's hair was standing on end. Everyone had looked surprised.

????: "Yes, Ashen. I am your sister, Aspen. Hopefully, you shall regain your memory. I would like that."
Ashen: "... B-but... prove it!"
Aspen: "I can only do that if you regain your memory, brother. Before our parents got divorced, we both told each other one secret, just in case we do not remember each other or something like that."
Ashen: "Well, if that's the case, someone could've spied on us."
Aspen: "Wrong. The room was soundproof. You and I were the only two in the room, for our elder sister locked the door from the outside."
Ashen: "Older sister?!"
Aspen: "Her name was Aswen. Since our father died, however, Aswen and I had to fend for ourselves. However, things got worse for she was kidnapped by an evil orcish necromancer called Sarenodrius."
Ashen: "WHAT?! But he's dead as of yesterday!"
Aspen: "Is that so? If only I had known sooner about you, Ashen. Then maybe Sarenodrius would still be alive... and then we could find the truth from that fool."
Ashen: "... I still don't remember anything. So you're not my sister."
Aspen: "As you wish. However, I must tell you how I know Hikari. We met in a school the year after we were separated. I told her that I missed my brother, and she volunteered to find a way to contact you... but, of course, because of the forest fire, that plan failed, because you were apparently headed over to where we had lived so that you could visit. You had ventured through the forest on your own."
Ashen: "... If that is true, we should have some sort of shared ability, right?"
Aspen: "Of course! The Bonds of Time! But for now, we should rest first. I will go make some dinner, since candy bars will not last long."

With that, Aspen got up and started making dinner using ingredients she had with her. Within an hour and thirty minutes, it was ready. Everyone had the same meal - chicken soup, hamburgers and bacon pie.

Ashen: "... What in the...? How many ingredients did you have with you?!"
Aspen: "The assassin school I went to had some cooking classes. I thought it would be useful. I have also learnt the way of the Scribe there. I am also a skilled seamstress."
Ashen: "That doesn't answer my question..."
Aspen: "Well, it will not be answered yet in any case. I am afraid the secrets of the assassin school's cooking classes are to remain just like that, a secret. Ashen: "What? How should I know you're not lying?"
Aspen: "... You know what? I believe I am just going to keep quiet about this."
Ashen: "GAH! WHAT THE?!"
Aspen: "You see it, do you not? The chains? The lock? That is our power, a power that only we Swaardt triplets have. I do not know how it is possible, however... but Aswen was at school with me when our father was poisoned. He only noticed later that evening. The poison used... it takes eight hours before it takes effect, but when it does... death is instantaneous."
Ashen: "ACK!"
Aspen: "The lock and chains... they are gone, are they not?"
Ashen: "Y-yes... but what the heck is it?!"
Aspen: "As I said, it is a power that only you, Aswen and I have. Come on, eat up."

The party all ate the meal that Aspen had made. It was very filling.

Aspen: "Alright then. Any questions you have to ask me? I believe I can answer about three questions per person, excluding my brother."
