Anyway, regarding Battle!Shane...

The Battle is a free-form RPG where the authors (the members who post) can choose a plot and then play by post. More plots get introduced as well, though.

At the moment, there are several plots going on simultaneously - Shaun and Kimberley being inside a Glitch Rift on Irova (the planet where Into the Unknown takes place) having to fix a time warp glitch in Irova; fourteen people in Castle Oblivion hoping to find Shane and Kim; four girls searching for a way to save their home planet. (Taylor told me that was her characters' plot.)

There are several variants, as well - I'll be copying and pasting from The Battle Forums.

I hope you don't mind that the characters you use are being "overridden" while the Battle now focuses on Shaun and Kimberley inside the Irovan Glitch Rift.
Even then, I apologize.

After all, it's technically my fault for I forgot about Shaun and Kimberley... $:-\$

Anyway, the characters you're being "overridden" with for now are:
KarjamP: The girl with the aviator goggles and the ninja
Taylor: The half-brother and half-sister with the matching bracelets

Of course, once the Glitch Rift is fixed, I guess Chapter 1 will begin (Shane and Kim being focused on).

You can control that character and the ninja, you know. You can choose the ninja's name, and so on, almost as though the ninja is a new character you thought up of. (Something like that.

How does The Battle work? Do we need a character sheet like we do for Endania, or is this different?

For some games, a character sheet's required, but for others (like this version of The Battle), you don't have to.

The newer ones, players take turns posting (that way, Shane can keep up), but otherwise, it's pretty much a Freeform RPG in that you CAN post anything on what you character says or do, even retconning events if you want to (but not recommended unless it conflicts with your vision on your own elements, due to the fact that it can anger others if it's done).

The last rule is also a courtesy rule: don't control other's characters without their permission. Those are the only rules.
