Yes, I need help regarding dialogue so that the people don't come up as boring same-personality people. If anyone wants to volunteer, just post in this thread the characters that you'd like to give dialogue to.

Obviously I'll credit you, so don't worry about that. I always credit those who help out on my projects, no matter how little the help is. Honour before reason, right? :P

NOTES FROM SHANE:
NOTE: you can mouse over the acronyms. :P
NOTE 2: all characters with a ---- under the Dialogue Writer column have their current dialogues written by me or Taylor, although people complain that everyone sounds the same. Hence, this thread exists to "purge" the characters of their current dialogue, and give them better ones instead. :P
NOTE 3: characters that already have "official" Dialogue Writers can not be selected. Official Dialogue Writers are in italics.
NOTE 4: characters who represent people who helped out on the mods in the credits will always write the dialogue of the characters representing them. In other words, Richard's dialogue will always be written by KarjamP, Taylor's dialogue will always be written by Taylor, and so on.
NOTE 5: The "Cthulhu" are not going to be named as such, however, I have yet to think up a new name for 'em. In the original Cave Story, they're basically humans who give information and are older than they appear. In this mod, they sort-of do the same. They will be named "Sages" in Frost, "Wise Ones" in Ember, "Genii" in Spark and "Philosophers" in Toxin. Note that all "Cthulhu" (as they shall be called in general) will count as one character in terms of dialogue.
NOTE 6: Helping out with dialogue? Every person who helps out with dialogue has a maximum limit of seven characters, at the moment. Version exclusive characters do not count, however - so it's possible for one person to do the dialogue of all Sages, Wise Ones, Genii and Philosophers. See above table to see who appears in what versions.
NOTE 7: The Frost Forest Tablets were carved by the Sages.
NOTE 8: Since Chanelle is actually an antagonist, I figured it'd be useful to give her impostors. Each version has a different minion of Pacen. As of version 0.3, Vera-Chanelle makes a minor appearance. Where? I'll not say. :P

If you plan to add me as a character, I'd obviously like to do my own dialogue, and if you do plan to add me, use one of the spritesets I made you do for the character of my mod.

That's what they're called in the translation, they're not really creatures like that. Older than Jenka, yes, but they appear human. :P

I'm still thinking on giving them different names though. Maybe they're "Sages". Or "Wise Ones". Either way, they're still unnamed.

Just say who (in the first post) you'd like to help with dialogue, if they have no official dialogue writer (those who have none are written with ----).

Also Rosie (as a boss) will have her dialogue remain, because it sounds feral. "You no take starflower" while the music stops suddenly sounds pretty scary to me, but that's just me.
Her boss theme will be a HH BG Battle for now, although that theme is going to be mainly Coolio's battle theme (NoxiCritter X uses Gigantic Boss).

Maybe I ought to add a few more ORGs? I have 18 unused ORGs so far.

17, if I consider giving Eclaire her own boss theme. Or his own. Or its own. Eclaire appears in version 0.3, I hope.

Who is Walter and Hunter? I could take 'em two.
Walter and Hunter are two characters that Taylor sprited and gave placeholder dialogue (i.e. temporary dialogue in case nobody rewrites the dialogue).
Walter is a coward whose hair was dyed pink by a Blue Mage named Corinth. He has one wing, so it is still unknown whether he's human or not. However, he is classified as human for now.
Hunter is an ill girl who, along with her sister Sandy, went to a place called Virus Village. She has purple hair (that is natural).


Just rewrite the dialogue of the characters and post it in here. Add the map script's filename (i.e. "e_Jenk.tsc" for the Dev Room - I kinda forgot to add the character representing you, so I'll use Randolf's sprites from SCS1 unless you have a different character that I should use to represent you) and use the [ code ] [ /code ] tags with the new dialogue of the characters. It can even be something entirely different from what Taylor gave them temporarily. ;)


In the case of the character representing you, he just has no dialogue for now. :P

Okay, how could I help?
If I remember correctly, you said you'd only write the dialogue of Richard and the Purple Karjam.
Anyway, just rewrite the dialogue of those two characters (whether it's in-character or out-of-character, since Frost/Ember/Spark/Toxin takes place inside Shané's subconscious) and post it in here. Add the map script's filename (i.e. "e_Jenk.tsc" for the Dev Room) and use the [ code ] [ /code ] tags with the new dialogue of your characters. It can even be something entirely different from what I gave them temporarily. :P

Okay, right now I'm working on another dialogue dump. (Although I'm doing it with one hand this time, so it's gonna take me longer to do than last time.) Ergo, this thread is obsolete for now. The moment I'm finished with the dialogue dump (i.e. rewriting it into Notepad), I'll update that thread.

Of course, since I can't use both hands, my right hand will tire faster than usual if I just keep typing non-stop. Thus, I'll take breaks now and then.

That is all I'll be saying now. Wish me luck, I suppose!

By the way, if anyone wants to change who they "voice" or anything, just say so.
... Also, I need to change the last names of Chanelle and Shané...
